With six years of teaching under my belt,
I have a world of experience - literally! After being born and raised in southern
Lousiana, I attended Lousiana State University (go Tigers!) and graduated with
top honors from its highly respected teacher preparation program. Upon graduation, I was
recruited by a great school in Richardson, Texas. After having
one of the best first years of teaching (I was
named one of the New Teachers of the Year for the school district), I
decided to try living abroad. I accepted a position teaching English
to Japanese students in Japan. This was also one of the best years of
my life! It really changed my philosophies of education and my outlook
on the world in general. After having a great year in Japan, I decided
to stay abroad but move to another country - Belgium - to pursue a
Master's degree in education. I thoroughly enjoyed my European
education and overall experience. I have truly gained a new insight
into education and the world. I even got the opportunity to substitute
several times in the International School of Brussels - a wonderful
experience.
After earning my master's degree, I moved to Bloomington to be
with my then-fiancee, Jacki, who was pursuing her master's degree at Indiana University. My first
year in Bloomington was spent at Marlin Elementary School teaching in the 4th,
5th, and 6th grades multi-age program. This was a new experience that helped
me grow professionally in many ways. For my second year I got to teach 3rd
grade at Fairview Elementary, a Title 1 school; yet another unique and wonderful experience.
Jacki graduated in May 2006, and we got married on July 16th of the same year. She got a job that brought us to the
Washington D.C. area, and we settled in the Merrifield area of Fairfax County, Virginia. I began a great position
teaching 4th grade at Wolftrap Elementary in Vienna. I am excited to be continuing my teaching journey with 4th graders at
Wolftrap Elementary for my third year in a row!

Accountability
The following is a summary of the Texas state assessment results for
my school in Richardson, Texas. My teaching partner and I taught 6th
grade Reading and Math. From the following results, it is clear that
our students were extremely successful with this assessment. More
impressive is the last section which shows the improvement our
students made from 5th grade to 6th grade.
